Something I'm really embarrassed to tell you

I truly got what I paid for.

Let me explain; when I first started doing family sessions, I was only providing digital files. I knew nothing about print labs or photo book companies – and figured that I didn't need to.I wanted to delight my clients with something extra nonetheless and started sending clients a letter with a few small prints from their session as a thank you.

The matte photo paper I found was amazing, the print place I found was cheap – I was happy as a clam!

In the past few months I've been purging in my cupboards, and I came across a batch of business postcards that I had printed on that same paper, at the same place. To my horror, some of the ink had rubbed off on the backs of other prints, which means the pictures are smudged. It turns out that the type of inking method the print place uses does not mesh well with the type of photo paper I had purchased for them to use – but they went ahead and printed the pictures anyway.

I should have known that the low price was too good to be true. Too good to be of quality.

So now, years after sending the prints out, I feel super embarrassed. Even if I sent those prints out to families for free, I hate that I have sent out such poor quality keepsakes.

Well, prints that really aren't keepsakes at all.

You see, I decided I wanted to start selling prints a couple years back. I researched different options and was referred to a really amazing lab that guarantees that the photographs won't yellow or fade for a lifetime. They cost a pretty seven pennies, but the quality is totally worth it.(A really amazing bonus is that the lab donates to Water.org from each print purchase.)Once I picked this lab, I never looked back. I completely forgot about these prints.

But – the families that have received these prints might still expect that same poor quality product from me.

Instead of sticking my head in the sand, I want to make things right.

I will be contacting these families in the next few weeks to send them proper heirloom prints. It will take me a while to figure this out as I didn't have a great tracking system for these kinds of things back when I was starting out.

If you are one of the families that received prints like these, please get in touch with me through email. The prints are 3.33x5 inch pictures on white backgrounds sized 4.25x5.5 inches.
