Your partner isn’t too comfortable with photos? I've got you.

The great thing about documentary sessions is that there is no need to pose or do anything out of the ordinary. As I head out the door, dads often tell me that it's been the most enjoyable photo session they've ever had.

Worry you'll be too boring? Not possible.

A lot of parents worry that they won't be interesting enough for a documentary session. All the pictures you see in my portfolio are of regular families doing their regular things – there is always magic to be found in the everyday moments.

Can't figure out a day that would work for a session? Any day works.

Whatever happens during our time together, that's ok. Your kids have ballet class – I'll join! Big sister has a soccer game – that'll be fun! Mom may not be home all day – let's capture what happens while she's at work. Kiddo's bestie might stop by – that would be amazing! Whether anyone needs to nap, change, eat, or get a time-out – it's all part of your life right now.

The day can get chaotic, is that ok? Absolutely.

I worked in daycare during my 6 years of university studies which means I've been exposed to the chaos a lot. After I graduated I worked as a child psychologist. This type of session works out so much better than a stiff portrait session for most kids. You can read more about my view on photo sessions on kids' terms here.

PS: I will take photos of whatever happens if you leave the kids alone with me in a room, whether they're drawing on your couch or stuffing the dog with whipped cream.

Do I travel out of state or to other countries? 100% YES.

Contact me to discuss further, as travel fees will be added to the total invoice (or you can fly me out with airmiles.)

For sessions outside of San Francisco Bay area, I only book full Day In The Life sessions.

If you can give me recommendations on where to get some yummy food in your area, I will cherish you forever.

What about digital files? You'll get them.

All session collections include the digital files and they are delivered through an online gallery that you can download from. But–because I know first hand how easily files go forgotten or get corrupted on hard drives, all packages also include a photo book (which can be swapped for prints).

This way you will be able to see your pictures every day, whether that's on your coffee table or up on a wall.

Are all the pictures black-and-white? Probably mostly yes, depending on the situation.

I work primarily in black and white to emphasize the emotions, the action, or the play of light in the pictures – but also recognize that some photographs need color to come alive. Each year I seem tp be getting more and more excited about color.

Will the pictures be published online? We will sort that out together.

I blog photos from a lot of sessions, and usually some of the photos make their way into my portfolio and social media – because it is important for my marketing. However, I do honor requests to keep specific types of sensitive pictures private. If you would like to keep all your images private, I charge a non-disclosure agreement fee. That being said, I would never use pictures in a way that I think would be harmful to the family.
