"[Age] 4 has been all about the 'why?' of things. It's fascinating and challenging and sometimes frustrating, but we usually end up learning something new about the world." -Maryam

How fun to get to document the morning of a fellow photographer's family! Maryam is a lifestyle photographer and owner of Hi+Hello Photography, and this was her family's first time being at the receiving end of a documentary family session. 4.5 year old (we all know how important that one half is!) Margaux was such a fun girl, and I was genuinely bummed to leave.Honestly, it's always intimidating to do a session for another photographer, but I'm finding that the Bay Area photographers are all really nice and supportive. We all have different styles, and seeing such a big photographer community embrace that is awesome! I do think that taking photos for another photographer makes me push myself to find new ways to capture moments  – the jumping on the bed picture is my absolute favorite from this session. This was also a session I submitted as homework for a visual storytelling class I was taking at The Define School. Knowing that my story would be critiqued by our teacher as well as receive feedback from other students added even more pressure! But, let's dive into these guys' lovely Saturday morning rituals:
Hop on over here if you'd like to read about why I do family sessions differently.
