Ruff Monday XIII | Puppy Nova Flashback
I wanted a dog ever since I understood what a dog was. And when I got older, I dreamed of a pack of wolves to roam the forests with. And when I got even older, I realized I really should just stick with the dream of having a dog.As a kid, I used to go up to people's boats (we used to spend all summer out on the boat) and ask if I could please play with their dogs. I was always excited to visit friends with furry friends, and could not understand how someone could be bored with theirs! My parents had no desire to get a dog, but I planned on getting one once I moved out of the house. Once I moved to another city for school I had way too little money – and time – to have a dog. A few years later I started working and would have had the money but still not the time, and we didn't want just a couch potato dog. So I waited, patiently. When we moved to the US we knew it was our chance to get a dog, while I was still figuring out my work plans. It took us about half a year to get settled in, after which we started looking for puppies. We went to see this 5-week old litter of Australian shepherd puppies in Templeton and just fell in love with these hamster-looking furballs. "Belle" was the mellowest girl in the litter, and seemed very curious about us, so we picked her. Then we had to wait for three whole weeks to pick her up!
She really is the best dog in the entire world. And thanks to her, I get to spend every day with a bunch of other awesome dogs and their owners. Not quite a pack of wolves, but probably the closest I'll ever get to that dream.
